Bad Breath? Brush That Tongue!

Just about everyone has bad breath at one time or another. Not-so-fresh breath is actually called "halitosis," and it is estimated that about 65% of the population suffers from the condition.  The cause often is not actually the breath, but the bacteria that flourish on the tongue.

One of the best ways to sweeten breath is to clean the tongue!

Tongue cleansing should be a routine procedure done as part of brushing and flossing teeth.  To clean the tongue, scrape it two or three times daily -- it only takes a few seconds, but can produce wonderful smelling results. Scraping can be done with a toothbrush or an inexpensive tongue scraper available at most pharmacies.

In addition to nicer smelling breath (often as much as 75% to 80% better), a clean tongue may also improve taste acuity.  And, with all of the wonderful summer treats to enjoy, it's important to keep taste buds in tiptop shape!
